The drawing shows a cross-sectional view of the structural elements and dimensions for the hull and decks. A table of principal dimensions for the 535-foot steamship is given on the right side of the drawing. The title block in the lower right corner shows that the drawing was prepared by the "American Ship Building Co." at a scale of 1/2 inch = 1 foot and is dated August 30, 1922. The drawing number is shown as "No. 3."

The title block at the lower center area of the sheet shows that the plan was prepared by the Detroit Dry Dock Company at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot and is dated August, 1885. (The ship was later renamed. It was the SS City of St. Ignace from 1907 to 1927 and was the SS Keystone from 1927 to 1932.)

- Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company, Cleveland Division freight bill invoice for 33 cases of Smucker's apple butter shipped to the E.J. Dossin Company on May 2, 1923 aboard the passenger steamer WESTERN STATES. The bill is stamped as paid by the D&C line, and several handwritten notes have been made on it. A second copy is attached along the perforated left edge.

- Half-tone print of an artistic rendition of a bird's-eye view of Detroit in 1908, and a black and white photographic print of it hung on a wood-paneled wall. The caption above the image reads, "Detroit 1908-Same Area As View Above." Below the image, "What Detroit has accomplished in the past, is the best evidence of its future prosperity" is printed. The pictured print depicts downtown Detroit, and areas to the west, rough from Fourth Street to Raynor Street, and State Street to the Detroit River. Visible landmarks include the Wayne County Building, Cadillac Square, Campus Martius, the Majestic Building, City Hall, the Pontchartrain Hotel, the Post Office at Fort and Shelby, and the Ford Building. Several steamships, including those of the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company, the COLUMBIA, and the LANSDOWNE are pictured at dock or under steam.
