The photo was taken from an elevated position above Grand Circus Park, possibly from the David Whitney Building, peering north along Woodward Avenue. Central United Methodist Church, a piano store, a sign company, H.R. Leonard Furniture Company, St. John's Episcopal Church, the Elliott-Taylor-Wolfenden Company, Childs Restaurant, the Grand Circus Theatre, and a drug store topped with a Pastora Ten Cent Cigar billboard.

- Retouched sepia-toned photo of a row of horse-drawn streetcars on Woodward Avenue taken from the southwest corner of Woodward and Jefferson Avenue, facing north. Destination signs for "Myrtle Street" and "Farnsworth Street and Grand Trunk Depot" are displayed on two of the cars. The sky had been painted a solid beige in a previous generation of this print, and the streetcar rails in the foreground, and several pedestrians have been outlined in grey in this print. S. Karpele's Clothing stands on the right.

- Black and white print of a photograph of President Theodore Roosevelt riding through Cadillac Square in a carriage surround by an entourage of horses and carriages behind him. A large crowd is gathered on either side of the parade. Several of the buildings in the background are decorated with banners. "Pres. Theo. Roosevelt in carriage Sept. 25, 1902 Cadillac Square" is written on the verso.

- Black and white photo taken of Campus Martius and Cadillac Square from an elevated position on City Hall, facing west. The Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument stands in the center of the frame. Along the north side of Cadillac Square are the Second Williams Block topped with a Walker and Company sign for Goodrich Tires, Stilwill's Cafe, a candy store, the Burns Hotel, and other signs advertising Diamond Tires and Altes Lager. The Pontchartrain Hotel stands on the south side of Cadillac Square. To the west at the far end of Cadillac Square is the Wayne County Building. Three streetcars pass in the foreground, pedestrians mill about, and cars are parked in front of the Pontchartrain Hotel. "Cadillac Sq. 1914," is printed in the lower left.

- Mounted sepia-toned photograph taken of the ruins of Capitol High School following its fire on January 27, 1893, as viewed from an elevated position across Griswold Street, south of State Street facing northwest. Icicles hang from the building's facade, and rubble has settled around its base. A pile of hoses, a group of people, and a horse-drawn sleigh are in the intersection below. An arc of water from a fire hose run from off the left edge of the frame, to the building's entrance. A fire engine, and a cloud of steam rising from it, is visible in the intersection of Griswold and Grand River Avenue in the background on the right. The photo is mounted on beige cardstock. "From Alvord & Co. Exclusively, Commercial Photographers, 55 Rowland St. Detroit, Mich., Ground Floor," is stamped on the verso, and "Front View - Capitol High School after fire Jan. 27, 1893," is handwritten.

- Black and white photo of the exterior of the Theatre Comique as taken from a slightly elevated position across Broadway Street, facing southwest. A crowd is gathered in the street in front of the theater around an ornate carriage driven by a man wearing a high peaked hat, and carrying a pair of passengers in dress jackets and turbans, as part of a circus parade. A sign on the top of the carriage reads, "India." A Model T is parked in the foreground. Signs on the facade of the Theatre Comique declare, "Best show in town for the money," "Stay as long as you like," and "High class continuous performance." The Kaiserhof is visible on the left side of the theatre. Signs are posted on the building to the right, on the corner of Broadway and Gratiot Avenue for the Fisher Kline Company, photographers; Union Cut Rate Dentists; John Verbist, cigars, tobacco, candy and fruit; and the Gothic bar. Along the north side of Gratiot, Lou H. Weitz, clothier; and the Library Tea Store are visible. "28," is handwritten at the upper right corner of the recto and "1909," is handwritten on the verso.

Pedestrians are visible walking across Woodward Avenue, as well as along the neighboring sidewalk. Horse carriages, automobiles, and a street car are visibly parked or moving down the thoroughfare. Road construction is occurring in front of Brown's Drug Store on Woodward in the central right foreground. The Pontchartrain Hotel is visible in the background adjacent to the commercial block along Woodward. Commercial businesses include Misfit; Louis Sheneider; and The T.S. Sayl Company.

- Black and white photo of the State Street face of the Edison Building on the southeast corner of Washington Boulevard and State Street, taken during its conversion from the Edison Illuminating Company's Station A to the company's offices, from across State to the northeast. Several windows, and in some cases, the surrounding brickwork have been removed, and workers are visible inside. A construction canopy has been erected above the sidewalk along State Street. A sign for a loan office is posted on the Sun Building on the left edge of frame. In the background on the right, the Reliable Furniture and Carpet Company, the W. G. Arthur Reid Company, Mazda Lamps, and Fulmer's Cigar Store are visible on the west side of Washington Boulevard. "Main Office Progress - Reconstructing 2nd & 3rd Floor," and "M-5020 12-8-16," are printed along the bottom of the image.

Across Jefferson, on the west side of Woodward is a four story building occupied by A.C. McGraw and Company, Wholesale and Retail Boots and Shoes. Along the east side of Woodward, signs are posted for Aetna Insurance, a wholesale hat, cap, and fur store, another shoe store, a crockery store, D.B. Nichols and Company, and a carpet store. Faint impressions of several pedestrians who moved through the frame during the exposure are visible.
