Signs are posted around the entrance advertising the film "Old Dutch," and Keystone Cops shorts. The Bud Barker cafe is to left of the theater, and the Park Theatre is to the right. The elevated view looks southward along the east side of Woodward just south of Jefferson Avenue, and shows a busy street scene with many storefronts, pedestrians, automobiles, and streetcars. Business names include the Central Hotel, Schiappacasse & Co. Wholesale Fruits, and Hiram Marks Electric. Ship docks at the riverfront can be seen near the upper right corner of the photo.

- Mounted sepia-toned photograph taken of the ruins of Capitol High School following its fire on January 27, 1893, as viewed from Griswold Street, south of State Street facing north. Icicles hang from the building's facade, and rubble has settled around its base. The spray from firehoses arcs over Griswold Street and Rowland Street (now Shelby Street) in the background. Two fire engines are in the street in the immediate foreground. A crowd is gathered on the sidewalks. Signs for Frank, Ingils, Druggists; and Solomon S. Bateson and Brother, Tailors are posted on storefronts, and a street light advertises "Billiards and Café." The photo is mounted on beige cardstock. "From Alvord & Co. Exclusively, Commercial Photographers, 55 Rowland St. Detroit, Mich., Ground Floor," is stamped on the verso, and "Capitol High School on fire - Jan. 27, 1893. Firemen fighting blaze, front view." is handwritten.

- Black and white print negative taken of a sepia-toned cabinet card depicting the West Side Brewery Company's Beer Restaurant. The Gebhard Paper Company is next door. Handwritten note on verso identifies this as being on the south east corner of Woodbridge Street and Woodward Avenue, taken on April 23, 1897.

- Sepia-tone photo of the entrance to the Woodward Theatre in the National Clothing Systems building on the east side of Woodward Avenue, between Campus Martius and Gratiot Avenue, as taken from the west side of Woodward. A sign above the entrance advertises the film, "The Great Love." The storefront for L. Black Optician, is located to the south. An early automobile is parked in front of L. Black's, several pedestrians are on the sidewalk. A covered walkway has been set up along the sidewalk north of the theatre, suggesting construction on the Newcomb-Endicott Company building above.

- Black and white photographic print on slightly beige paper depicting the corner of Griswold Street and West Fort Street as viewed facing south, taken during the 1891 National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic in Detroit. The Hammond Building is on the left edge of the frame, and is wrapped in banners, hung with flags, and has a portrait of Ulysses S. Grant hung just above street level. The Moffat Building is also wrapped in banners and has a large "welcome" banner that is hung above its entrance. On the far right side of the image, a portion of one of the triumphal arches erected during the encampment is visible. Pedestrians, a pair of horse carriages, and a horse-drawn streetcar marked "Boulevard and Fort Wayne" are in the foreground.

House and Company; Pixley and Cleveland, Mattresses, Bedding, and Furniture; a sewing machine store; a book binder; Freedman and Brothers; and the Weber Furniture Company's Warehouse. A horse-drawn wagon and carriage are stopped along the sidewalk. "1870's" handwritten on verso, along with "M-1847-6" in pen and "Dept. Report & Info. Comm." stamped.

- Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print depicting the construction of the Central Market Building in Campus Martius on Michigan Grand Avenue or Cadillac Square. Before it stands the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, missing the eagle statues on its lowest pedestals. To the left of the Central Market building is McLennan and Company Dry Goods. On the opposite side is the Russell House, which also houses M. Horowitz and Company Crockery, and the Russell House Bazaar. A business advertising "wholesale liquors," is visible further down Cadillac. The photo is mounted on beige cardstock and has "1880" written on the verso.
