Each man in identified through a handwritten caption beneath them. W. Heck sits on the driver's bench of the apparatus, holding the reigns of the two-horse team. F. Arnold, T. Drury, C. Walsh, and G.S. Goldwater stand lined up beside the apparatus. A relief over the door of the headquarters reads, "Fire Department Headquarters, 1882." Two large bay entrances to the building are also in the background. The bay doors for the one behind the Hose Company No. 1's apparatus are open. "Hose Co. No. One, Taken August 15th 1903." is handwritten in ink at the bottom center of the photo. The photo is mounted on grey mat board.
