- Donated to the Mason branch of the Capital Area District Libraries in 2006 by Eugene G. Wanger in memory of his father-in-law, Leslie Dana Morris, and mother-in-law, Mabel Rebecca Morris, this collection comprises the majority of Mr. Wanger's personal library of books, manuscripts, and ephemera pertaining to the history of Ingham County, Michigan. Leslie Dana Morris, son of Stephen Arnold Morris and Lida Ellen Couples, was born March 1, 1894, in Logan County, Ohio. He later moved to Eden, Michigan, where he farmed until 1960 when he and his wife relocated to Mason, Michigan. L. D. Morris also spent time as an employee of both REO and the John Bean Company. He died on May 6, 1985. Mabel Rebecca Robinson Morris was born April 2, 1905, near Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Rodman and Mary Robinson, but grew up in Shannon County, Missouri. She graduated from the Birch Tree High School and was a teacher at a country school for two years. On February 24, 1928, she married L. D. Morris. She began university studies at Michigan State University as a freshman at age 48, and eventually received her degree. Mrs. Morris taught elementary education at the Rolfe, Robbins, and Steele Street Elementary Schools before retiring in 1968. She died on July 9, 1992. Eugene G. Wanger, a local attorney, co-chair of the Michigan Committee Against Capital Punishment, author of "Why We Should Reject Capital Punishment," and a Delegate to the State of Michigan Constitutional Convention in 1961, assembled this collection over a period of more than 60 years. His Ingham County Historical Collection contains his personal bibliography of books found in his 2003 publication "Discovering Ingham County." The majority of the collection was acquired by Mr. Wanger. However, the collection includes both published and unpublished material created by Mr. Wanger himself. There are books, maps, atlases, newspapers, reports, small press publications, and ephemera. His 2003 Ingham County bibliography is a sequel to his 1977 publication "Ingham County Histories: An Annotated Bibliography for Students, Buffs, and Collectors." The donor's 11 original series titles and organization have been maintained, although materials have been boxed based on size and fragility. Select items have been digitized in some of the series and are available online. A significant addition to this collection was transferred by Mr. Wanger to CADL in early 2018 and has been added as the 12th series. Although most of the items in this addition are numbered, they do not correspond to numbers in the 2003 Ingham County bibliography. Several of the items are fragile. Most of the publications in this collection are also available as circulating and/or reference copies in the Capital Area District Libraries system. - Ford Ceasar was a teacher and school administrator for nearly 35 years and was involved in the Historical Society of Greater Lansing, the Historical Society of Michigan, and other historical organizations. This collection is primarily concerned with Ceasar's publications, so several boxes are devoted to notes, research, the Ingham County Historical Commission, which hired Ceasar to write "The Bicentennial History of Ingham County." The other notable parts of this collection are the Michigan and Lansing photograph series (boxes 11 and 12) which contain rare and important photographs of the Lansing area, as well as surrounding communities. There is one box of loose oversize material as well.

- Prisoners enjoyed their meals in the hotel dining room in Bezau (Kreuzstein), which was vastly different from the mes halls that enlisted men used in Austrian captivity. The Orthodox cross on the back table suggests that the officers' mess might have served double duty as a chapel on Sunday mornings.

- F. Wade drew this picture of a religious service in the YMCA Hall at Ruhleben. A minister delivers a sermon from the pulpit to a packed congregation. The Association made the hall available to members of any faith as a means to promote spiritual life within the prison camp.

- Notes:
- French and Russian prisoners made this statue of a suffering man with a drawn sword in memorial to their fallen comrades at Grafenwoehr. The memorial has a Latin inscription, "For the Fatherland," and was dedicated at the prison cemetery.

- As a propaganda camp, prisoners had access to a wide range of activities at Zossen. The Germans have provided these French prisoners with a studio to work on sculptures. There is a base relief on the floor to the right, a small statue of a French soldier sitting, and a large monument on the small table to the right.

- The Catholic prisoners at Koenigstein also enjoyed a very ornate chapel for worship services. The altar features a painting of Christ above it with a communion rail at the base of the altar. The chapel features a chandelier, an eternal flame, two statues, pews, and two large ovens for heat in the winter.
