- The Goodyear Blimp in flight over water, circa 1972. A letter from the Goodyear News Bureau is attached to the back of the image and is folded over the front. The letter reads: AIRBORNE REMINDER - Colorful flashing messages on the Goodyear blimps urge viewers to "Save Energy" and "Don't Be Fuelish" and give fuel conserving tips during after-dark presentations. More 75 per cent of the airships' night sign programing is in support of chartable organizations and public service events. Original fuel misers of the sky, the blimps can operate for days on the amount of fuel it takes a jumbo jet to taxi from ramp to runway for takeoff.
