The girl sits on the ground, while the rest sit on benches. The younger women wear hats, and light colored blouses, while the older woman wears a dark dress. Two of the men wear vests over their shirts, the third wears a tie and suspenders with his shirt. Hats and coats are piled in the foreground on the right. Other picnicers and a pavilion surrounded by flowers are among the trees in the background.

- Photograph. Sepia-toned head and shoulders photo of Orrin R. Baldwin. He is wearing a white shirt with high collar, vest with pocket watch, dark suit, and pince-nez eyeglasses. Handwritten text on the verso shows "Orrin R. Baldwin, born at Springboro, Crawford Co., Penn., January 14th 1848" and "Detroit, Michigan, December 31st 1900." He was the president of the American Harrow Company, president of the Merchants and Manufacturers Exchange, and president of the Masonic Temple Association of Detroit.

- Digital scan of a sepia-toned photo taken along the tracks northwest the Detroit portals of the Michigan Central Railway Tunnel during its construction. A Hocking Valley car is on the left, and on the right is a Michigan Central Railroad flatcar loaded with rails from the Mays Creek right-of-way which were being removed to make room for the new tunnel approach. Richard L. Aylward's coal business on Vermont Street stands beside the tracks on the right. The Vermont Street Bridge and Porter Street Bridge run overhead in the background. A caption printed along the bottom left reads, "137-6, Westerly Open Cut. W. from Portal, 5/28/07."
