Claire, Breitmeyer Building, and a moonlight tower. Signs read "Murray's Millinery", "Consumers Clothing Company", "The Salamander", and "Mathias Steyskal Saloon and Restaurant". Printed on verso: Broadway was several years ago a street of boarding houses. In the expansion of the city's retail district it suddenly sprang into notice as a retail district, and is now one of the principal business streets. It connects Pingree Square with Grand Circus park and is asphalted for its complete length. The Breitmeyer building shows on the left and the Hotel Ste. Claire in the distance. The log has 29 un-numbered pages of entries that have been handwritten in black ink on the recto and verso. The first entry notes: "April 17th, Wednesday, towed out of [?] River by ferry boat, N. York. Wind N.E. Came to anchor in the river." The last entry notes: "Decr. 1, Sunday, got under weigh at 2 a.m. Wind S.S.W. and got to Detroit at 2 P.M. freezing."

The return address of the bank is printed in black text in the upper left corner of the envelope. The back flap is secured with three red wax seals that have been impressed with the seal of the bank.

The title page of the catalog reads "Official Catalog of the Detroit Aquarium Richard J. Murphy for a Brick Veneered Double Store and Two Flats Above Located on the Northwest Corner of Elmwood and Champlain Streets, Detroit, Michigan." The specifications (Job 254, Set No. 1) are bound in a booklet that has two brass fasteners at the top. The cover is made of heavy tan paper and includes typewritten text for the title. Printed text beneath the title shows the name, "J. Lawson Miller, Architect." The cover interior and outside back cover have printed advertisements for many contractors, tradesmen, and building materials suppliers. The booklet contains 90 pages of typewritten text that give brief descriptions of all of the materials and construction requirements for the project. An index is shown on the first page.

- Two architectural drawings with first entitled "Plans for Eight Stores and Sixteen Apartments Located on the North-West Corner of Michigan and Wesson Aves., Detroit, Michigan" and the second entitled "Wesson Ave. Elevation." The drawings (Job No. 288) consist of red and black ink on linen and show front and rear elevation views of a proposed 3-story retail/apartment building. On the second drawing, the name, "Soldoris," is shown over the apartment entrance doorway on Wesson Avenue. The title block in the lower right corner of the first sheet shows that the drawing (part of a set of nine sheets) was prepared by "J. Lawson Miller, Architect," at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot. Some green and blue pencil shading has been added on the verso to highlight various architectural details.

- Two page spread from a supplement to the August 17, 1889 issue of "Harper's Weekly," concerning the Detroit International Exposition and Fair of 1889. An engraving, by Francis Schell and Thomas Hogan, captioned, "General View of the Buildings and Grounds of the Detroit International Fair and Exposition," is on the recto showing the exposition site, including the large Main Building, several smaller structures, and tends, and two ponds all enclosed in a stockade, positioned to the southwest of Fort Wayne, as viewed from the air to the southwest. The Detroit River runs along the site with a small canal leading a dockside gate. An article entitled, "Detroit and Her International Fair and Exposition," written by William Willard Howard is on the verso of the illustration. The articles discusses the events and attractions planned for the exposition, as well as offering general information on the city. The article includes engraved portraits of the event's backers senator James McMillan, U.S. Minister to Spain Thomas W. Palmer, General Russell A. Alger, and seed magnate Dexter M. Ferry, as well as illustrations of City Hall, The Museum of Art, and Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.

- Mounted enlargement of a black and white print depicting a north-facing view from the intersection of Griswold Street and Jefferson Avenue (as indicated on verso) in 1837, taken from page 457 of Silas Farmer's History of Detroit and Wayne County and Early Michigan. A horse-drawn wagon, pedestrians, and dogs are in the streets. Several storefronts have been given legible signs: "F. and C.H. Buhl," " McCormick and Moon, Hats and Caps," St. Paul's Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Ste. Anne's Catholic Church are all visible in the background. "Copyright 1883 by Silas Farmer" printed in lower left corner. An illegible signature, presumably that of the artist William A. Raymond, is printed at the lower right. Image is mounted on heavy green cardstock.

- Color postcard depicting the Free Press Building and German American Bank from the corner of W Lafayette Boulevard and Griswold Street, with parked cars in front. Printed on verso: The Free Press is one of the leading newspapers of the country, and their new building is located within 200 feet of the City Hall. It is a ten story building, 100 feet front and 130 feet deep, and is 140 feet high. The front is of white glazed terracotta, and ornamental iron work. The side walls are of brick. Motor Bus carrying passengers over Bridge and around Belle Isle. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Aug 5, 1913.

- Letter from D.M. Ferry and Company to the Suttle and Jones Company of Felix, Alabama, dated December 20, 1910. The letter is about the shipment of a special order of seed made to Selma. It also tells of improvements made to the style of "our 5 cent papers," which are lithographed. The letter is printed on company letterhead, listing executives.
