Description:
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator nominee and Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, testifies at his confirmation hearing before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in this excerpt from the hearing. Senator John A. Barrasso M.D. (R-WY) chairs the hearing and recounts Pruitt's career. Senators James Inhofe (R-OK) and James Lankford (R-OK) introduce Pruitt. Following his introductory remarks, Pruitt talks about the role of a regulator and says he disagrees with President-elect Trump's views on climate change. Pruitt is challenged on his relationships to major energy corporations and their contributions to his campaign. Pruitt discuses whether human activity is the primary cause of climate change saying that the issue is subject to more debate. He is also questioned about the numerous lawsuits he filed against the EPA as Oklahoma Attorney General.

1055. Impeachment trial of U.S. President Bill Clinton

Description:
During the morning session on the fifteenth day of the impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton, Chief Justice William Rehnquist questions Clinton's defense attorneys and members of the House Judiciary Committee who are serving as "managers", the equivalent of prosecutors. The questions, which are provided by Senators and simply read by Rehnquist, focus on the nature of the arguments made by the Managers and Clinton's attorneys. Clinton's attorneys Charles Ruff, Cheryl D. Mills, David Kendall and Greg Craig defend their original arguments against conviction under Republican questioning. Managers Ed Bryant (R-TN), Asa Hutchinson II (R-AR), Charles T. Canady (R-FL), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Bob Barr Jr. (R-GA) and James E. Rogan (R-CA) defend their arguments for conviction under Democratic questioning. Part one of four.

Description:
Harry E. Lester, a former district director for the United Steelworkers of America, talks about his labor and political activism in southeast Michigan, his childhood in West Virginia, coming to Michigan in 1953 to work for Ford, later working at Mclouth Steel and joining union Local 2659. He talks about why he became active in the union, receiving labor law training at Michigan State University, establishing a teachers union in Gibraltar, MI, and labor education programs at several state universities. He says that he had a difficult time transitioning from being a "gladiator type" of fighter for the workers to becoming a bridge builder. Lester is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor emeritus of Labor and Industrial Relations.

Peter Glendinning, Michigan State University professor of photography, art history, and design, talks about his participation in a project to photograph several of the participants in the UAW/GM Local 602 Oral History Project. Glendinning also recalls the beginning of his career at MSU, his family, his education, his foray into journalism, famed MSU economics professor Charles P. "Lash" Larrow, and how the UAW oral histories captivated him and inspired his photos. Glendinning is interviewed by John Revitte.
