- The first log house in Rochester was built on this site at 116 East Third Street. James Graham and his son built the house in 1817. It was the birthplace of the first settler's child in the county. The first school was started here in 1823 and the photograph shows a house on this site that was built in 1915. (P-260) see also RRP-116 Photograph Collection

- Charles W. Upton started this business near 311 West Fifth Street (University Drive) about 1908, focusing primarily on selling coal. Around 1919, the business moved to this location at 543 North Main Street and was taken over by Upton's nephew, Roy G. Upton, and son-in-law, Arthur R. Dillman. From the 1950s onward, the business continued to diversify it's products and continued to grow. In 1987, Dillman & Upton moved to 607 Woodward Avenue.
