Notes:
Liturgy O.C.S.O. was published by Gethsemani Abbey, Trappist, KY and edited by Father Chrysogonus Waddell from 1966-1999. The journal (at that time a newsletter) began after September 1965 meeting of the Liturgy Commission of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance to report progress in liturgical renewal after Vatican II. 2364. Darius Davis Prepares WPA Traveling Libraries for POWs

Notes:
Secretary Daris A. Davis prepares circulating libraries for shipment to prisoners assigned to Arbeitskommandoes. Prisoners working in labor detachments could not visit the prison camp library and longed for access to books. Each traveling library carried a set of approximately thirty books. When the members of the labor detachment read all of the books, they could exchange the library for a new set of books.

2365. One Pfennig Bank Note from Preussisch Holland

Notes:
This one-Pfennig note was valid for use only when prisoners made purchases within the prison camp at Preussisch Holland. German authorities issued limited prison script to preempt attempts to bribe German guards and to eliminate the currency's use in the event of a POW escape from the facility. Note the Prussian Ministry of War stamp on the note.

2366. Tent Quarters for British POWs at Doeberitz

Notes:
British prisoners of war relax in the compound at Doeberitz in the first few months of the war. They eat at the outdoor tables and live in the tents in the background. These men will provide the labor for the construction of the wooden facilities that will house them in the coming years.

2367. Theatrical Performance in the Hospital Courtyard at Grafenwoehr

Notes:
Prisoners perform an outdoor concert and theatrical performance for sick and wounded prisoners in the courtyard of the hospital at Grafenwoehr. These performances helped lift the spirits of men recovering from illnesses or wounds.

Notes:
This view of the city of Afion Karahissar shows the mountain and the mosque. The Turks incarcerated Allied officer prisoners of war in two facilities in the city; one in houses in the city and one at the foot of the mountain.
