Notes:: A Babylonian Cylinder Seal, ca. 1700 BCE with Sumerian inscriptions. Excavated at Amlash, Mesopotamia, these seals were the signatures of the Babylonians. Each man's signature was different, and the images often depicted something about the owner. This includes the seal itself as well as the inscription relief on a portion of clay.

Notes:: This leaf is from Estatutos Generales de Barcelona, a book of religious statutes, brought out in Mexico in 1585 by Pedro Ocharte. Both the type and paper were undoubtably imported from Spain. The indentations on the top of the upper margin were from the title being burned into the top of the book. The recto side of the leaf is marked as page 67; the verso side has no page number.

Notes:: All three tennis courts are in action in this photograph of tennis matches in an unidentified German prison. The center court features a game of singles, while the other two matches are doubles. Tennis was one sport which allowed Allied officers to enjoy the weather and get some exercise.
