- This photograph depicts a panoramic view of the prison camp at Soltau and identifies the two compounds, the kitchens, and the Roman Catholic church. Most of the barracks in the camp are the typical one-story wooden buildings found in many German prison camps. An unfinished building stands in the lower left hand corner. The guns on the perimeter of the camp ensured camp security. The Germans divided larger prison camps into compounds for better security and to take advantage of economies of scale. Only one railway line was needed to transport POWs and supplies to the facility and one large kitchen could feed all of the inmates. The compound system made it easier to keep track of POWs, divide hostile elements, and better control the camp population.

It demands that all officials act and think only about the people for their own sake.

- The same four Russian prisoners after they went through the disinfection process in a German prison camp. At the disinfection station, German doctors inspected the men for any illnesses and would have assigned those suspected of carrying disease to a quarantine ward. Healthy men then surrendered their clothing and took showers or chemical baths to clean their bodies. The next step in the process was a visit to a barber who shaved off their hair and beards to prevent the introduction of lice into the camp. Before departing the disinfection station, the POW's received their disinfected uniforms or new clothing if their uniforms were unsalvageable.

- Excised from a larger manuscript. Worm holes throughout leaf with minimal loss of text. Very thin parchment. Stub of conjugate leaf is present. Leaf is slightly distorted because of the puckering of the parchment., Capitals and paragraph marks touched in red. Text is heavily abbreviated. On verso, text on lower inner column smudged with some loss of text., A decree probably from a document once containing the whole Constitutiones Clementinae. The Exivi de Paradiso was enacted at the final session of the Council of Vienne on 6 May 1312. The text of the leaf corresponds to paragraphs 10 - 14 which starts with an explaination that friars cannot have gardens, vineyards or large churches, only humble and modest buildings. From dealer description: This leaf contains a substantial part of the Exivi de paradiso, the document in which Clement V extended papal acknowledgement and his personal affect towards the newly founded Franciscan Order (Clement V noting that since a youth the “professors of this kind of rule” have inflamed his pious devotion), and setting out the guidelines of asethetic poverty for them., 2 columns of 38 lines ruled in brown ink written in rounded early Gothic book hand, possibly influenced by university script., and The parent codex was presumably produced at the time of the Council of Vienne or soon after, perhaps in Vienne itself, for a wealthy Franciscan community.

- " "Onze Taal" was a newspaper published for Flemish-speaking prisoners of war at Goettingen. This is a copy of the front page of the 3 March 1915 issue. The Germans developed Goettingen as a propaganda camp for Flemish prisoners of war, in which these POW's received special privileges. The Germans sought to cultivate good relations with these men during the war in anticipation of their post-war occupation goals for Belgium.
