Engler is questioned by the subcommittee about an alleged exchange Engler had with Kaylee Lorincz, an abuse survivor of Larry Nassar, in which Lorincz claims that Engler offered her money to drop her civil suit against MSU. Engler denies this allegation and says that while he did meet with Lorincz without her attorney present, he never offered her money.

Obama recounts the record of the Bush administration then reminds listeners of his own administration's record on cutting regulation, reducing the budget, and expanding a social safety net. He challenges the record of the Republican party and the policies they have espoused recalling Lincoln's charge that, "through government, we should do together what we cannot do as well for ourselves." Obama lays out the consequences of approving the Republican budget plan. Obama is questioned by Dean Singleton, chair of the AP board of directors, about several issues including the pending decision by the Supreme Court on the Affordable Care Act. Obama says he expects the Court to follow precedence.

- President Obama calls on Congress to extend tax cuts for the 98 percent of Americans making less than $250,000 while allowing the cuts for the wealthiest two percent to expire. Obama suggests that the ten years of tax breaks did not result in more jobs as promised and will not if they are continued.
