- Two teams of horses and several unidentified men clearing land for construction of the new St. Casimir church, at 806 West Barnes Avenue in Lansing. A note on the back of this photograph reads "Original @ St. Casimir Church."

- Description:
- A group of unidentified men sometime around 1900, in a stone-walled construction pit. At street level in the background, a sign for "Wm. Leabs" can be seen on a building, as can a "Pipe Repairing" sign, and "Police Headquarters." The police department was located at City Hall, at the southeast corner of Capitol and Ottawa streets. The 1900 City Directory lists two William Leabs in Lansing, one a shoe shiner and the other a bartender.
