- Half-tone print of an artistic rendition of a bird's-eye view of Detroit in 1908, and a black and white photographic print of it hung on a wood-paneled wall. The caption above the image reads, "Detroit 1908-Same Area As View Above." Below the image, "What Detroit has accomplished in the past, is the best evidence of its future prosperity" is printed. The pictured print depicts downtown Detroit, and areas to the west, rough from Fourth Street to Raynor Street, and State Street to the Detroit River. Visible landmarks include the Wayne County Building, Cadillac Square, Campus Martius, the Majestic Building, City Hall, the Pontchartrain Hotel, the Post Office at Fort and Shelby, and the Ford Building. Several steamships, including those of the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company, the COLUMBIA, and the LANSDOWNE are pictured at dock or under steam. Detroit's City Hall which stood at Campus Martius, on Michigan Grand Avenue (now Cadillac Square) is depicted as viewed from Campus Martius facing southeast. Several people stand in front of the building, while several other people sit in the shade on the building's north side. Stalls used for the Central or City Hall Market are visible behind the building. In the background, along Michigan Grand, signs are posted for U.S. Tobacco Works, R.G. Tyler Teas, National Bitter, H.H. Wallace, Ira Shade, Hiram Stanskil, and S.H. Davis and Company. The photo has a rounded top and is mounted to a piece of yellowed cardstock bearing the title and "J. Watson, Artist, Detroit" below.

Taken near Bates Street on the opposite end of Cadillac Square, facing northeast. The Burns Motel, a cafe, the Garland, Schroeder Paint and Glass Company, and Hotel Wobrock are along the businesses along Cadillac Square. Pedestrians, several brass-era automobiles, and electric streetcars are in the street. The photo appears to have been produced from an earlier photo as its rough edges are in frame. A large crowd is gathered on either side of the parade. Several of the buildings in the background are decorated with banners. "Pres. Theo. The Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument stands in the center of the frame. Along the north side of Cadillac Square are the Second Williams Block topped with a Walker and Company sign for Goodrich Tires, Stilwill's Cafe, a candy store, the Burns Hotel, and other signs advertising Diamond Tires and Altes Lager. The Pontchartrain Hotel stands on the south side of Cadillac Square. To the west at the far end of Cadillac Square is the Wayne County Building. Three streetcars pass in the foreground, pedestrians mill about, and cars are parked in front of the Pontchartrain Hotel. "Cadillac Sq. 1914," is printed in the lower left.

Before it stands the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, missing the eagle statues on its lowest pedestals. To the left of the Central Market building is McLennan and Company Dry Goods. On the opposite side is the Russell House, which also houses M. Horowitz and Company Crockery, and the Russell House Bazaar. A business advertising "wholesale liquors," is visible further down Cadillac. The photo is mounted on beige cardstock and has "1880" written on the verso.
