- Sepia-toned photo of the exterior of the New Empire Theatre as taken from the east side of Woodward Avenue, facing west. The Charlie Chaplin film, "The Champion," is advertised on the marquee, by a stand-up of Chaplin, and by several posters hung around the entrance. Other posters advertise the films, "His Desperate Deed," and "The Battle of Frenchman's Run." Field's Cloaks, Suits, Furs, and Dresses, is located in the storefront to the south of the theater. On the north side of the theater are St. John's Arbor, Brown's Fine Candies, and Woolworth's. A row of light poles, each holding five streetlights are along the sidewalk in the foreground. The photo is mounted on a page for a photo album, complete with a flap for binding. "13055," is printed in the lower right corner. A Manning Brothers, Commercial Photographers stamp is on the verso, along with the handwritten note, "W.S. Woodward between State & Grand River."

- Description:
- Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print depicting the Smart Block on the southeast corner of Woodward Avenue and Jefferson Avenue, taken from an elevated position on the opposite corner. The storefronts along this corner include, Yates Clothing, the Boston Shoe Store, A. Amberg and Company, Campbell and Linn Dry Goods, and another clothing store. The structure to the right of Campbell and Linn appears to either have been partially demolished or be under construction. The Franklin House and a pair of church steeples of St. Anne's Church are in the background. It is printed on art paper and is framed in an off-white cardstock frame. Handwritten note on verso of copy notes, "c.1855-57 ([Silas] Farmer says block torn down 1857," referring to the author of the 1884 book The History of Detroit and Michigan. Matting is yellowed cardstock. First copy is cropped closer at the left and bottom, but high at the top. Second copy is black and white.

- Description:
- One set of three architectural drawings entitled "Wesson Ave. View of a Four Story, Seven Stores & Thirty-One Apartment Building." The drawings consist of black ink and pencil on vellum paper and show a front elevation view of the proposed building as well as floor plans for each of the four floors. The proposed building was located at the northwest corner of Michigan Avenue and Wesson Avenue. The plans were drawn at a scale of 1/8 inch = 1 foot by "J. Lawson Miller, Architect," and are dated 1920.

- Black and white photographic print depicting several buildings along the north side of Cadillac Square, as well as the Wayne County Building in the distance. Taken near Bates Street on the opposite end of Cadillac Square, facing northeast. The Burns Motel, a cafe, the Garland, Schroeder Paint and Glass Company, and Hotel Wobrock are along the businesses along Cadillac Square. Pedestrians, several brass-era automobiles, and electric streetcars are in the street. The photo appears to have been produced from an earlier photo as its rough edges are in frame. "37 North side Cadillac Square second block from Woodward looking east April 29,1910" handwritten on verso. "Burton Historical Collection, Glass Negative 2766" on verso.

- Mounted sepia-toned photographic print depicting the north end of Campus Martius as viewed from an elevated position. Roesink Clothes, the Detroit Opera House, Norton and Company, Bond's Clothes, Kaufman Hats, United Cigars, a restaurant with a sign that simply reads, "Lunch," are in the midground. The Merrill Fountain, the bust of Governor John Judson Bagley, a tent labeled "War Camp Community Service," pedestrians, automobiles, small buses, and electric streetcars are visible in Campus Martius. Along Monroe Street in the background are the Ste. Clair Hotel, Garry's Clothes Shop, the Palace Theatre, the National Theatre, Dr. Pilmore's Dentists, and the other pool halls, and loan offices of the Monroe Block. Billboards for the Thompson Auto Company and Velvet Tobacco are posted. The photo is affixed to a heavy black cardstock backing, and remnants of blue tape surround it. "Walker & Co. Electric Sign" is handwritten along the bottom of the matting. "1918" is handwritten on the verso.

Moore and Company, and Hall Clothing. A Burton Historical Collection stamp is visible on the far right side of the print. - Mounted black and white photo of the aerial apparatuses of the Detroit Fire Department's Ladder Companies No.1 and No.3 being used to fight a fire at the Goldberg Brothers' department store on the west side of Woodward Avenue between Grand River and Clifford Street, as viewed from across the street to the northeast. Firefighters work amid broken windows and display cases along the base of the building. A large clearance banner and a "Store for rent" sign are posted on the Grinnell Brothers' Music House next door to Goldberg Brothers. Clough and Warren Company, Pianos; Wood's Ladies Haus; and the William B. Elliott Company are also posted along the block. Several bystanders are also in frame. The photo is mounted on black matte board, with a border relief around the image. "Fred G. Wright, Detroit, Mich. 115 Gratiot Ave. Phone MAIN 5488," is stamped on the verso. - Black and white photographic print on slightly beige paper depicting the 1898 Spanish-American War Parade as viewed on Jefferson Avenue near Wayne Street, facing east. A formation of uniformed soldiers marches west along Jefferson. In the foreground are people, horse-drawn wagons, and carriages stopped to watch. A Pittmans and Dean Company ice delivery wagon is amongst them. Flags are draped from the buildings along Jefferson. H.S. Robinson and Company, Frohlich Edward Glass Company, Cowyer and Ward Millinery, and A.H. Krum and Company are all visible. A partially visible man in the foreground along the left edge raises his arm, perhaps in a salute.

Dietsche business at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Larned Street, with a tour bus parked in front. Signs read "Detroit Souvenirs", "Post Cards", and "Booklets, Valentines". Printed on verso: Dietsche's sight-seeing autos afford visitors a quick, restful and inexpensive way of seeing Detroit and its famous Belle Isle Park, the most magnificent island park in this country, its beautiful river, grand boulevards, handsome residences and great buildings. - Trade card for Rohns and Schaefer, dealers in Carriage Goods, Woodward, Iron and Steel, printed by the Calvert Lithographing Company. The proprietors' full names are listed as Herman Rohns and Frederick Schaefer, and their address is given as 52 and 54 East Congress Street. An image of their storefront in the Sutter Brothers building is on the verso.
