- The YMCA provided musical instruments which allowed French POW's to form bands and orchestras in prison. Access to instruments gave skilled musicians the opportunity to continue practicing for post-war performances and concerts improved the morale of the general camp population. The band at Muenster is performing an afternoon concert in the prison compound. Note the laundry drying outdoors outside of the barracks.

- The German Ministry of War issued this prison camp visitation permit to Reverend Archibald C. Harte and the administration at the prison camp at Goettingen stamped the document. Harte established a working relationship with the camp commandant, Colonel Bogen, and Goettingen received the first YMCA hut for War Prisoners' Aid services in Germany.

- Russian prisoners stand outside the gaily decorated YMCA building, which is festooned with strings of garland, during the inauguration ceremony in the prison camp at Sopronnyek. Hungarian officers stand in the foreground on the right hand sice and an official delegation, led by His Excellency, M. de Sjilessy, the Privy Councilor of the Emperor-King. The Association hut became the center of social activities in most prison camps during World War I.

- Thousands of Russian prisoners celebrated Christmas outdoors in the prison compound at Purgstall by a large, decorated Christmas tree. American YMCA Secretary Paul B. Anderson took this photograph during the celebrations.

- Aerial view of the prison camp at Ruhleben which housed British and Commonwealth interned civilians during World War I. This drawing shows the race track, grand stands, barracks, casino, tea house, New Town, guard room gates, and hospital, which made up the buildings of the prison camp. The Association constructed a YMCA Hall on the open ground between Barracks II and XI.

- These boys are participating in a math class, as suggested by the abacus on the table, in the prison camp at Braunau-in-Boehmen. Association secretaries urged the Austro-Hungarian authorities to segregate young boys from the main POW populations and concentrate them in prisons with schools.
