- Image across Chapman Pond (Chapman Lake) at Western Knitting Mills. The Western Knitting Mills factory was built in 1896 and produced knitted goods until 1939. The building was later owned by the McAleer Manufacturing Company, later known as the Higbie Manufacturing Company, and then ITT Higbie.
