- 8x10 black and white photograph from glass negative of the 1903 Packard Model F and 1899 Model A in front of brick building. Inscribed on photo back: 1-cylinder, 12-horsepower, 88-inch wheelbase, 2-person roadster "Old Pacific," participant in the transcontinental crossing June 20th thru August 21st, 1903 from San Francisco to New York, driver E.T. (Tom) Fetch from the Packard Warren, Ohio plant and passenger Marius C. Krarup editor of The Automobile, rear deck passenger from Reno to Colorado Springs only, N.O. Allyn. This model also participated in the First Annual Endurance Contest of the NAAM from New York to Pittsburgh 7-15th of October, 1903 as contestant #16 class D, driver E.T. Fetch and observer C.H. Lowe and achieved a perfect score. To the right of "Old Pacific" is the first Packard, the 1899 Model A completed 11-06-1899 in Warren, Ohio, body by Morgan & Williams (carriage manufacturers) Warren, Ohio.

Inscribed on photo back: completed Nov. 6, 1899, Warren Ohio; Model A, 1-cylinder, 9-horsepower, 71.5-inch wheelbase, 2-person roadster. Note that the H-gate shift box is in place, having been installed after initial tests of Nov. 1899 (initially there were 2 levers). Photograph was perhaps taken some years after car was built--note less than new condition of engine parts and tires.

- 7.5x9.5 black and white photograph of a 1903 Packard Model F with sign "Packard Motor Cars St. Petersburg." Inscribed on photo back: 1-cylinder, 12-horsepower, 88-inch wheelbase, 2-person roadster. Used in the transcontinental crossing June 20-August 21st, 1903, a total of 5600 miles from San Francisco to New York. The driver was E.T. (Tom) Fetch from the Packard Warren, Ohio plant and passenger Marius C. Krarup, editor of The Automobile. "Old Pacific" also participated in the First Annual Endurance Contest of the NAAM, on October 7-15th, 1903 from New York to Pittsburgh as contestant #16 class D, driver E.T. (Tom) Fetch, observer E.H. Lowe. Photo taken outside Cary-Crane Motors, Inc., Packard agents, St. Petersburg c.1924.

- Description:
- 8x10 black and white Packard Co. file photograph, from copy neg. of glass neg., of 1899 Packard Model A Number Two. Inscribed on photo back: 1-cylinder, 9-horsepower, 71.5-inch wheelbase 2-person roadster with carriage top, body by Morgan & Williams, carriage manufacturer, Warren, Ohio. This deluxe Model A was built for William Doud Packard who used the car for about a year and is said to have driven the car as far as Lakewood, N.Y. The car featured a wood panel dash on the back side which was a compartment for tools & packages, the top fitted with a cushioned top, and surrounded on three sides by a brass rail. W.D. Packard's son Warren recalled that at about age 9 he would perch on this seat and hang on tight to avoid going over backwards. All 5 Model A Packards were either completed or under construction in 1899 and all considered to be 1899 Packards.

Car is either being crated at Packard Motor Car Co. for shipment to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. or being uncrated at Lehigh for permanent display in the lobby of the James Ward Packard Laboratory of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

This is the car given to Lehigh University.
