- The Rochester Era Newspaper Office was located on Third Street just west of Main Street. The brick building was built in 1885 and features a large sign that reads "Era Printing Office." (P-144) [date is approximate] Photograph Collection

- Description:
- View looking north along Water Street. The Western Knitting Mills factory is on the left. The building immediately behind the factory was the original dormitory, with the two adjoining buildings added sometime later along Water Street. All three dormitories have since been demolished. The Western Knitting Mills factory was built in 1896 and produced knitted goods until 1939. The building was later owned by the McAleer Manufacturing Company, later known as the Higbie Manufacturing Company, and then ITT Higbie. In 1994 the Rochester Mills Beer Company restored the building and it now operates as a restaurant and brewery. (BL-57) see also RRP-293 Bob Lytle Collection

- The Rochester Light & Power Company was incorporated in 1899 and operated until it was absorbed by Detroit Edison in 1909. That same year, Edison constructed this building on the southeast corner of South Main Street and Third Street to operate their business. - Woolen mills frequently accepted sheep to shear then spun wool into yarn and created a final woolen project, like socks. This mill produced woolen products then became a shoddy mill, which uses wool materials to make felts. The final date of demise for this mill is unknown.
