He goes on to congratulate the athletes, such as gymnasts Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson, the U.S. women's softball team, U.S. men's beach volleyball players Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser, and U.S. women's beach volleyball players Misty May-Treaner and Kerri Walsh. Bush thanks the 16 athletes who served the nation in uniform, including swimmer Army Lieutenant Melissa Stockwell, who lost her leg during the War in Iraq. Volleyball competitor Kerri Walsh presents President and Mrs. Bush with an Olympic team jacket. Melissa Stockwell presents President Bush with a framed memento from the Paralympic opening ceremonies.
