- Colorized halftone print of a photograph depicting the west side of Campus Martius, as viewed from an elevated position, likely from the Pontchartrain Hotel. The primary copy has bolder colors and is mounted on beige cardstock. The secondary copy has lighter colors, and includes the title, "'The Heart of Detroit' - Reproduced from Photograph," as well as the notation, " Jos. Mack, Printer, Detroit." Both versions include captions below labeling the Post Office, City Hall, Pardridge and Blackwell in the Majestic Building, the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, Merrill Fountain, and the Opera House. A sign reading, "Welcome National Hay Association" is posted on the front of City Hall. The moonlight tower in front of City Hall on the corner of Woodward Avenue and Michigan Avenue is visible. Electric streetcars, horse-drawn carriages, and pedestrians are on the streets below. "1902-1903" handwritten on lower right corner of secondary copy, and "Fine Cigars and Tobacco, Confectionary, Soft Drinks, and School Supplies, Etc., 528 Dix Ave. Detroit, Mich." stamped on its verso.

- Description:
- Mounted sepia-toned photograph taken of the ruins of Capitol High School following its fire on January 27, 1893, as viewed from Griswold Street, south of State Street facing north. Icicles hang from the building's facade, and rubble has settled around its base. The spray from firehoses arcs over Griswold Street and Rowland Street (now Shelby Street) in the background. Two fire engines are in the street in the immediate foreground. A crowd is gathered on the sidewalks. Signs for Frank, Ingils, Druggists; and Solomon S. Bateson and Brother, Tailors are posted on storefronts, and a street light advertises "Billiards and Café." The photo is mounted on beige cardstock. "From Alvord & Co. Exclusively, Commercial Photographers, 55 Rowland St. Detroit, Mich., Ground Floor," is stamped on the verso, and "Capitol High School on fire - Jan. 27, 1893. Firemen fighting blaze, front view." is handwritten.

- Black and white photographic print on slightly beige paper depicting the 1898 Spanish-American War Parade as viewed on Jefferson Avenue near Wayne Street, facing east. A formation of uniformed soldiers marches west along Jefferson. In the foreground are people, horse-drawn wagons, and carriages stopped to watch. A Pittmans and Dean Company ice delivery wagon is amongst them. Flags are draped from the buildings along Jefferson. H.S. Robinson and Company, Frohlich Edward Glass Company, Cowyer and Ward Millinery, and A.H. Krum and Company are all visible. A partially visible man in the foreground along the left edge raises his arm, perhaps in a salute.

- Color postcard depicting two images. The bottom image shows a parked omnibus full of people, and the top image shows the A.C. Dietsche business at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Larned Street, with a tour bus parked in front. Signs read "Detroit Souvenirs", "Post Cards", and "Booklets, Valentines". Printed on verso: Dietsche's sight-seeing autos afford visitors a quick, restful and inexpensive way of seeing Detroit and its famous Belle Isle Park, the most magnificent island park in this country, its beautiful river, grand boulevards, handsome residences and great buildings. The photo was taken from an elevated position above Grand Circus Park, possibly from the David Whitney Building, peering north along Woodward Avenue. Central United Methodist Church, a piano store, a sign company, H.R. Leonard Furniture Company, St. John's Episcopal Church, the Elliott-Taylor-Wolfenden Company, Childs Restaurant, the Grand Circus Theatre, and a drug store topped with a Pastora Ten Cent Cigar billboard.

- Black and white photo of the State Street face of the Edison Building on the southeast corner of Washington Boulevard and State Street, taken during its conversion from the Edison Illuminating Company's Station A to the company's offices, from across State to the northeast. Several windows, and in some cases, the surrounding brickwork have been removed, and workers are visible inside. A construction canopy has been erected above the sidewalk along State Street. A sign for a loan office is posted on the Sun Building on the left edge of frame. In the background on the right, the Reliable Furniture and Carpet Company, the W. G. Arthur Reid Company, Mazda Lamps, and Fulmer's Cigar Store are visible on the west side of Washington Boulevard. "Main Office Progress - Reconstructing 2nd & 3rd Floor," and "M-5020 12-8-16," are printed along the bottom of the image.

- Black and white print of a photograph of President Theodore Roosevelt riding through Cadillac Square in a carriage surround by an entourage of horses and carriages behind him. A large crowd is gathered on either side of the parade. Several of the buildings in the background are decorated with banners. "Pres. Theo. Roosevelt in carriage Sept. 25, 1902 Cadillac Square" is written on the verso.
