- A group of unidentified staff standing outside the Robert B. Shank grocery market, most likely at 200 S. Washington Ave. Shank sometimes had multiple locations for his market in the 1890s. He died in 1900.

- H & H Wine Celler and Party Shop is seen at 434 South Washington Avenue. South of West Lenawee is Lansing Speedy Auto Wash and Service selling Sinclair oil products at 500-512 South Washington Avenue. The parking lot on the corner appears to belong to the auto wash and service center based on city directory listings. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo. The photo has a crack in the emulsion where it appears to have been folded; it is visible as a straight line.

- A Royal Crown Cola soda pop delivery truck is at the rear of the store; in Lansing, Royal Crown Cola was bottled by Nehi Beverages, Inc.

- On the northwest corner at North Pennsylvania Avenue and Sheridan (East Oakland in later years), this is a curious photograph. A review of City Directories from 1952 through 1964 found no listing for a Peter's Grill and Dairy bar in this location. Instead, Peter's Food Market grocery appears in City Directories for several years. In the early 1960s, the Daylight Do-nut Shop is listed at 901 North Pennsylvania Street; That could be the storefront in the immediate foreground with "Fountain Service" sign in the window.

- Located at 1320 Kalamazoo Street West, corner of Huron Street. Northeast corner of West Kalamazoo and Huron Streets. Area later cleared for Lett's Park and Community Center.

- Store is located at 838 Pennsylvania Avenue and Fire Station at 839 Pennsylvania Avenue. Viewed from east of the intersection at North Pennsyvania Avenue. The cross-street in the photograph was known as Sheridan Street at the time; it was subsequently renamed East Oakland Street.

- Lansing Broadcasting Co. building housed several businesses in addition to their WILS-AM radio station: Verra-Kleen Cleaners, and Baucom Barber; all used 407 as their address. Next, the Dura-Chrome Dinette Co. was at 417. Michigan Liquor Control Commission Retail and Wholesale Store was at 417. A&P grocery completed the block at 425.
