- Description:
- One stock certificate from the "Fort Street and Elmwood Railway Co." The certificate form is printed in black ink on thin vellum paper and has a decorative border and text. It shows an engraved image of a horse-drawn railway car at the center. Handwritten text on the left side and on the form indicates that certificate "No. 18" was issued in the amount of "20 shares" to "Nathaniel Prouty" and is dated May 26, 1869. A rectangular 25-cent "United State Internal Revenue" stamp is affixed on the left side of the certificate. Additional text on the verso indicates that the certificate was transferred to "Stephen B. Grummand" on February 8, 1875.

The electric Myrtle streetcar is visible in the center of the photo, sharing the street with pedestrians and horse carriages. A moonlight tower rises above the intersection with East Larned Street.
