This Armchair, in the collection of the Public Museum of Grand Rapids, consists of molded black plastic shell with black, epoxy coated, metal pedestal base. The seat and backrest are padded and covered with burgundy polynit upholstery and edged in black vinyl. The arms are molded urethane. The base swivels and also has five blades and casters. This object is believed to be a "preproduction piece. "Herman Miller Trade Name: Vitra Flex Chair Herman Miller Series: Vitra 40 Series Product Number: VS 402 ; VS 404 (pneumatic set adjustment)
