Something better than a fortune

Description:
Dwight S. Large, pastor at First Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, delivers the first half of a sermon entitled "Something better than a fortune." Large uses two differing narratives to discuss the subject of Christian stewardship. He contrasts the story of Emma Clarissa Clement, who was elected the American Mother of 1946 by the Golden Rule Foundation of New York, with the Biblical story from the Gospel of Matthew, in which a rich young man asks Jesus how to achieve eternal life and is told to sell all of his possessions. Large stresses that these stories show that Christ has a claim to all of the life of Christians, and that stewardship is an important part of this claim.
