Karanis; Textiles; Wool

Notes:
Small fragment of yellowed woven wool fabric with two plain selvedges and remnants of twisted and braided fringes along one weft-wise edge and remnants of twining along the opposite edge. There are two divided pinstripes (each 0.2 cm wide), one near each weft-wise edge. Each half of the pinstripe consists of 2 picks of purple yarn. One pick of yellowed yarn was used for the divider. There are two purple embroidered squares next to one of the divided pinstripes. Each has an “X” across it.
