Text analysis, Godden, Catholic Homilies, Homily II.34

Notes:
Aelfric describes the life and death of Saint Martin in his homily for the feast of the saint (Depositio Sancti Martini Episcopi; November 11) in the Second Series of Catholic Homilies. An author's apology (Excusatio Dictantis), in which Aelfric explains that he will offer no more homilies for specific feast days, follows this text in two of the manuscripts; the apology is also to be found in a third manuscript that does not include the text on Martin.
