President Bush welcomes members of the 2008 United States Summer Olympic and Paralympic Teams to the White House. The President talks about his experience watching the Olympics in Beijing including the Opening Ceremonies, the American win in the Water Cube for the 4x100 freestyle relay, and meeting Michael Phelp's mother. He goes on to congratulate the athletes, such as gymnasts Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson, the U.S. women's softball team, U.S. men's beach volleyball players Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser, and U.S. women's beach volleyball players Misty May-Treaner and Kerri Walsh. Bush thanks the 16 athletes who served the nation in uniform, including swimmer Army Lieutenant Melissa Stockwell, who lost her leg during the War in Iraq. Volleyball competitor Kerri Walsh presents President and Mrs. Bush with an Olympic team jacket. Melissa Stockwell presents President Bush with a framed memento from the Paralympic opening ceremonies.
