Women's wine, navy blue, and white herringbone check suit from the late 1930s or early 1940s

Description:
Woman's wine, navy blue, and white herringbone check suit. The straight skirt has a side ziper closing with a 5" split on the opposite side. It has an faced waist with a facing of wine crepe. The long sleeved jacket has a long-fitted line with shoulders that are heavily padded, and a concealed hook and twist closing in front. The collarless neckline is trimmed with two rows of self-bias strips which extend to the front armholes. The edges of the sleeves have the same bias insets. The jacket is lined with wine crepe. Worn by donor. Label: "Custom made, Bess Schlank, Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles."
