Ambassador Bridge, Sandwich, Ontario, Detroit, Michigan

Description:
Postcard. Black and white photograph of the Ambassador Bridge. Front reads, "Sandwich, Ontario--Ambassador Bridge--Detroit, Michigan." Back reads, "Ambassador Bridge. The World's Longest Suspension Bridge. Length main span--1850 feet. Total length--2 miles. Largest International Terminals--U.S.A. 6 acres--Canada 7 1/2 acres. 26 Inspection lanes in each terminal. Always Open. No Waiting." Because the bridge is referred to as the "longest suspension bridge in the world" it can be inferred that the card is from between 1929, when the bridge was completed, and 1931, when the George Washington Bridge became the record holder. The card was mailed in 1945. Postmark reads, "Detroit, Mich, Aug. 2, 7 PM, 1945." A 3 cent stamp is still attached.
