Karanis; Textiles; Wool; cock/eagle

Notes:
Small fragment of yellowed woven wool fabric with two plain selvedges, a fringed edge and a very deteriorated twined border. There are two oval tapestry insets near the center; one using blue yarn with a little red, the other, green/blue. There are some yellow repair stitches (or weft-wrapping) in both. There are three pinstripes near the fringed edge; 8 picks of blue/black, 4 picks of red and 6 picks of blue/black. There are 0.6 cm of yellowed weft in between. At the twined border end there is a very deteriorated weft band 0.7 cm wide, woven with blue, purple and red yarns. This may have been tapestry as one edge appears scalloped.
