Rome; Lamps; Clay (unfired); Slip

Notes:
Greyish buff micaceous clay; unglazed. Nozzle with straight end and concave sides. On neck, two small pyramids incised with small circles at peaks. Between them is narrow channel to discus. V-Shaped groove, with small stamped circle at angle and two ends, separates plain rim from slightly depressed discus with central filling hole. Pierced virtical handle rises from top of lamp opposite nozzle and at right angles to axis of lamp. Plain base follows outline of lamp. Nozzle slightly broken about wick hole. No stamp. May have a fine slip of same color as clay.
