Karanis; Textiles; Wool
- Notes:
- Fragment of tightly woven yellowed wool fabric with remnant of a large section of tapestry. The tapestry uses two shades of brown as well as yellow weft-wrapping for decoration. (Shaded stripes ?) Points are formed along the edges of the tapestry. There is a ribbed selvedge with remnants of linen stitching along the edge. A very small (2 cm x 1 cm) piece of wool fabric with yellow warp and weft and a few green wefts and a modern sewing thread was found with this piece.
