The Shinnick Residence

Description:
Fred M. Shinnick built this country home on the north side of Walton Boulevard in 1926. It was located between Old Perch Road and Livernois Road, presently the site of the Grosse Pines subdivision. In 1932, the residence was converted into a private mental hospital called The Haven Sanitarium, which operated until 1968. In 1972, after years of neglect, the building burned down.
