Sepia-toned photo postcard from a souvenir set from the 1923 water ballet and circus performance, "The Awakening," depicting the performance's set at Shadukiam Grotto Stadium at West Davison Ave and Dexter Boulevard. "'The Awakening' presented by Shadukiam Grotto, Detroit, 1923. 17420 chair seats, 1000 participants--water stunts, circus acts, ballets, fireworks. Conceived and managed by N.C. Chapman. Photo by MacGregor & Vallin," is printed on the verso. The set of three cards were housed in a beige paper envelope with "The Awakening 1923, Photographic Mailing Cards, Price $1.00 Per Set," printed on them, and "Ruth McMeans, 326 El Cerrito, Piedmont, Calif." handwritten on them.
