One "Map of Detroit

Description:
One "Map of Detroit." The map is printed in black, red, green, and blue ink on white paper and shows streets, street names, railroad lines, streetcar lines, parks, and cemeteries within the city limits. In addition, the names of former ribbon farm owners (with private claim numbers) are shown along the shoreline of the Detroit River. An advertisement for "Michigan Mutual Life Insurance Company" is shown in the upper left corner of the sheet. Various numbered blue stars are indicated on the map as "Convention Tents" and these may have been part of a Christian Endeavor International Convention which took place in the city in July, 1899. The map was "Published by Silas Farmer & Co., 31 Monroe Avenue, cor. Farmer Street, Detroit, Mich." at an approximate scale of 1 inch = 0.5 miles and was dated 1899.
