- Located at 100 N. Capitol Ave. On reverse: "Earl L. Burhans, Republican, born at New Buffalo, Michigan, April 12, 1884. Moved to Decatur Township in 1890 and resided in Decatur and Porter Townships until 1898. Moved to Paw Paw in 1898 where he has since resided. Graduate of Paw Paw High School, 1902. Teacher in the rural schools of Decatur, Porter, and Waverly Townships 1902-1905. Graduate of the Law Department of the University of Michigan 1908. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney 1909-1913; Prosecuting Attorney 1913-1917. Has served as city attorney and treasurer of village of Paw Paw. Active practicing attorney for 22 years. Member of Baptist Church and Masonic and I.O.O.F. lodges. Married and has two children. He is a candidate for State Representative at the Primary, September 9, 1930, and respectfully solicits your vote and support. High taxes are the big issue. Mr. Burhans advocates reduction by (1) practicing greater economy; (2) assessing certain property now escaping taxation; (3) passing State Income Tax, as recommended by Grange, Gleaners, and Farm Bureau; making industrial centers pay taxes as well as farmers and small land owners. He will support Resolution allowing people to again vote on State Income Tax Amendment."
