Text analysis, Godden, Catholic Homilies, Homily II.23

Notes:
In his first homily for the Third Sunday after Pentecost (Dominica III post Pentecosten) in the Second Series of Catholic Homilies, Aelfric explicates the parable of the great dinner (Luke 14:16-24), citing Gregory the Great as the authority for his interpretation. In the alternative homily for the Third Sunday after Pentecost (Alia Narratio de Evangelii Textu), Aelfric discusses the calming of the storm at sea and the miracle of the Gadarene swine (Matthew 8:23-34).
