Women's suit with black velvet jacket from the early twentieth century

Description:
This woman's suit has a black velvet jacket that has a collar, cuffs, and pocket flaps that are ecru wool with black and tan houndstooth check. The jacket has slits on its sides and in its back, and weights are on the side flaps. The jacket has an ecru satin lining. The skirt has a slight gored line in a wool fabric of ecru and black checks that match the collar and cuffs of the jacket. A black velvet underskirt hangs about 6" below the wool. Belonged to the donor: Marie Freud (Mrs. Joseph Siegel) who was born in Detroit in 1893, and married in Detroit in 1914. Label: B. Siegel Co.
