The Deans' Home

Description:

The home of Joseph and Fannie Dean, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1900 the home's address was 843 S. Lafayette; Grand Rapids standardized mailing addresses in 1912 changing this home to 1335 Lafayette SE. The Deans both worked for the Jennings Flavoring Extract Co. in Grand Rapids, he as a salesman and she as a bookkeeper. In Lansing's 1898 directory, Joseph Dean had been listed as a commercial traveler and Fannie Dean was a stenographer at Bement, likely a friend of Hattie Lawrence's due to the stenography connection. Note on sleeve: "222. Sep 28, 1900. Opr. Al. 12M."
