- Four panel brochure promoting the Detroit International Exposition and Fair held from September 17th to the 27th of 1889, mounted on red matting. The exposed face bears a color Calvert Lithograph Company illustration of Detroit, as viewed from the air above Delray, facing northeast, captioned "All Roads Will Lead to Detroit in September. Why? (see over)." The exposition site, containing the large Main Building, several smaller structures, and two ponds, is at the lower right corner of the image, to the west of Fort Wayne. The Detroit, Lansing and Northern Railroad; Detroit and Bay City Railroad; Michigan Central Railroad; Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway; Wabash Railroad; Detroit Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway; Belt Line; and Lake Erie, Essex and Detroit River Railway lines are all labeled, as are the communities along the Canadian side of the Detroit River--Walkerville, Windsor, Sandwich, and Mineral Spring. - A letter from Ralph Emery, a clerk working for the Detroit Stove Works, to his father, Robert T. Emery, in Belfast, Maine, dated October 14, 1886. The letter is written on Detroit Stove Works letterhead, which features a lithograph, credited to the Calvert Lithograph Company, depicting the Detroit Stove Works offices in Detroit and Chicago as well as the company's foundry in Hamtramck, Michigan. The letter reads: My dear Father, Was glad to receive yours of the 10th. There is very little going on now in Politics. election here first of next month + there will be a hot fight. We are having one of the worst storms there has ever been in Detroit, it began raining this morning + continued until noon, when the wind began to blow, + has been blowing a hurricane ever since, have never seen it blow so hard, the damage will be great, both on land + in the lakes, the ferry boats have been unable to run + the vessels along the docks have received considerable damage, hear one or two [steeples?] have blown over + a large number of trees - a part of the roof of one of our buildings at the works blew off this afternoon but nothing serious, one of the McMillian from Furnaces had the lot blown off this a.m. - the city tonight is almost in total darkness, as there is trouble with the wires running to the electric lights, it seems very strange not to see this city brightly lighted. - One business card. The card is printed in black and red ink on heavy pale yellow paper that shows "Elliott & Brother, Elliotts' Cloth House, No. 128 Woodward Avenue, Detroit." The owners' names, "Richard R. Elliott" and "James R. Elliott," are shown in the lower left corner of the card. Printed text on the verso shows "Foreign Passage and Exchange Office of Richard R. Elliott, 128 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Mich." and "Established in Detroit, September, 1841." This card was contained in the lead box time capsule that was removed from the Old City Hall on May 25, 1961.

- Four-pane folding promotional 1895 calendar from the Michigan Stove Company, advertising Garland Stoves and Ranges. A scene of children talking amongst themselves against a background of a landscape with a windmill is spread across all four panes on the recto, with a calendar running along the bottom and the year "1895" printed in the center. A large advertisement for Garland Stoves and Ranges is spread across all four panes on the verso.

- Mabley and Company catalog containing prices and illustration's for the store's offering of men's, women's, and children's clothing, hats, shoes, and crockery for the fall and winter seasons spanning 1886 to 1887. The catalog is bound in a paper cover with a color lithograph of a two vignettes--a woman peering out a window into a snowstorm, and a fox hunter on horseback--serving as the cover. The image is credited to Sackett, Wilhelms and Betzig of New York. Images of the company's eastside and westside locations framed by birds and a sunburst are on the back cover. The catalog includes a mail order form.

Smith and Company credited to Henry Soibert and Brothers of New York. The receipt lists the business' addresses as 51 Woodward Avenue and 169 Jefferson Avenue. A canceled two cent U.S. Internal Revenue Stamp is affixed near the bottom center of the invoice.
