- John Cantlon, former Michigan State University provost, talks about his career and the beginnings of the university's Faculty Grievance Policy (FGP). Cantlon, who came to MSU in 1954 and moved into administration in 1969, says that the FGP was created after a failed attempt by faculty to unionize and discusses how the procedure was created and what parts worked in the past and should now be improved. Cantlon also talks about the campus student protests, the founding of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at MSU, the search for a new university president, fighting the Michigan Legislature for funding and his relationship with the MSU Board of Trustees. Cantlon is interviewed by Robert Banks, former MSU associate provost and associate vice president for Academic Human Resources and John Revitte, MSU professor emeritus of Labor Studies.

- In this installment of the "Kalamazoo school hours," D.J. Heathcote interviews Dr. Loy Norrix, superintendent of Kalamazoo schools, and Russell Dunney, director of research for Kalamazoo schools, about the needs of the Kalamazoo School System and the upcoming overpopulation crisis the schools are facing. The educators discuss the the history of school construction in Kalamazoo since World War I. Norrix says that a new junior high on the city's south side must be completed by 1950 to enable the schools to cope with a surge in enrollment and argues that the city should levy a special tax for school construction rather than float school bonds.

- Noel Johnson recalls his career at REO Motor Car Company/Diamond-Reo Trucks, Inc., in Lansing, MI, from 1958 to 1975. Johnson describes his youth and early jobs and the variety of positions he held at REO and says with pride that Diamond-REO trucks were virtually handmade. He also talks about REO's merger with White Motors, Francis Cappaert’s purchase of the company and the final, painful bankruptcy. He says that he was retained by the company to finish the last military truck orders and was there when the gates were closed for good. The interviewer is Shirley Bradley. Recorded as part of the commemoration of REO Motor Car Company’s 100th Anniversary.

- Louis Garcia discusses his career as an assembly worker, press operator, and manager at REO Motor Car Company/Diamond-Reo Trucks, Inc, in Lansing, Mi, between 1946 and 1975. Garcia talks about his Hispanic heritage and his childhood spent as a migrant farm worker. He says that in his early years at REO he was singled out and "tested" by other workers and management because of his ethnicity, but still excelled in the workplace, becoming a journeyman and later a supervisor. Garcia also talks about Francis Cappaert’s ownership of REO, the company bankruptcy, loss of the worker pension fund, the final days of plant operations, and employee depression and suicide. Interviewers are Shirley Bradley and Lisa Fine. Recorded as part of the REO Memories oral history project.

- In this installment of "The lawmakers" Dr. Willis Dunbar interviews state Senators Perry Greene and John Martin, both of Grand Rapids. The two senators discuss their success in helping to increase workman's disability benefits and old age assistance while lamenting the legislature's failure to create an adequate highway program. They also discuss pending legislation to fund Michigan State College and the University of Michigan, and a law which was recently passed to reform the grand jury system in Michigan.

- In this installment of "The lawmakers," Dr. Willis Dunbar interviews state Representatives Ural S. Acker and Wade Van Valkenburg. The two representatives discuss a variety of legislation which they have been involved with, including a failed appropriations bill to fund the University of Michigan and Michigan State College, and laws affecting recording fees and attorney fees. The two senators also report on the financial health of the state and speak about their disappointment in the partisan tactics used during the session.

- Dr. Gordon Guyer, former President of Michigan State University, talks about growing up in Michigan and coming to Michigan State College in 1947 as an entomology major after a stint in the U. S. Air Force. He talks about earning his doctorate in 1954, becoming a professor, and a department chair and later joining university administration as Vice President for Governmental Affairs. He says his time as President of MSU was a pleasure and talks about hosting the U.S. Presidential debate at the Wharton Center and chatting with George Bush about their first meeting in China. Guyer says that the world of higher education may be changing too fast and that a personal connection with students is being lost. He also worries about funding for MSU, a distracted student body, and a lack of family support for students. Guyer praises the creation of the new FRIB facility saying it will greatly benefit the university and the state. Guyer is interviewed by retired MSU Professor Pauline Adams for the Michigan State University Faculty Emeriti Association Oral History Project.

- Glen Green discusses his career as a machine repairman, tooling division worker and manager at the REO Motor Car Company, between 1937 and 1974. Green talks about his youth in the depression, hiring in at REO, his various jobs with the company, REO's eventual bankruptcy and the fate of worker pensions. He says that a family atmosphere was prevalent at REO and that much of a worker's social life was connected to the plant and its many social events and institutions, such as the company sponsored REO Clubhouse. Green also says, however that there were union-management conflicts and describes the famous Lansing Labor Holiday demonstration of 1937. Interviewers are Shirley Bradley and Lisa Fine. Recording ends abruptly. Recorded as part of the REO Memories oral history project.

- Denbow reflects on his upbringing, studying journalism, a stint in the Army, and his first job at Penn State University. He describes learning the craft of public relations before coming to East Lansing in 1982 and creating a coordinated public relations effort for MSU based upon portraying the university as elite, but not elitist. He describes the many challenges facing MSU as it attempts to stay true to its land grant mission and laments disinvestment in the state college system and suggests that research institutions play critical roles in solving current and future problems.
