- From North Grand Avenue to the river, East Shiawasse Street is fully occupied by shops and stores. Smokestack with letters "Bordens" is seen east of the bridge over the Grand River and north of East Shiawassee. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo.

- From the period when South Washington Street was used as parking lots from Michigan Avenue to Kalamazoo Street. According to Lansing City Council Proceedings from October 3, 1966, the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of South Washington were to be turned into a Parking Mall starting November 21, 1966. On June 9, 1989, Council ordered that the attended parking operations were to be eliminated.

- W. T. Grant Department Store at 117-123 North Washington Avenue. The northern end of the store faced West Ottawa Street, visible here. City Planning Division staff trimmed around the roofline and the bottom of the photo and also annotated the image.
