- Black and white print, presumably an enlargement of a glass negative, showing a horse with a bridle, yolk, and harness trapped in mud up to its shoulder along East Nevada Avenue. A crowd is gathered around the horse, visible in frame as feet and legs among piles of bricks and boards on the far side of the horse, and shadows of men in hats in the foreground. A partially out of frame man on the left pulls a chain in an effort to free the horse. Another partially out of frame man in front of him holds the end of a rope tied to the horse. A backwards caption stretches across the bottom of the frame, "[S]tuck in mud on E. Nevada Ave. Detroit, Mich. 191[...]."

- One map entitled "D.M. & M.R.R. [Detroit, Mackinac & Marquette Railroad] Land Plan, Part of Private Claims at St. Ignace." The map consists of red, blue, and black ink on linen and shows the property lines, parcel numbers, and names of property owners along a section of shoreline on East Moran Bay at St. Ignace, Michigan. Property being acquired by the railroad or the state for right-of-way purposes is tinted in yellow, red, and blue according to a corresponding legend. The map is drawn at a scale of 1 inch = 50 feet. A handwritten note in the lower left corner shows "D.M.M.R.R. Engineers Office, St. Ignace, March 3d of 87 [1887], J. H. Orvis, Eng."

- One stock certificate from the "Fort Street and Elmwood Railway Co." The certificate form is printed in black ink on thin vellum paper and has a decorative border and text. It shows an engraved image of a horse-drawn railway car at the center. Handwritten text on the left side and on the form indicates that certificate "No. 18" was issued in the amount of "20 shares" to "Nathaniel Prouty" and is dated May 26, 1869. A rectangular 25-cent "United State Internal Revenue" stamp is affixed on the left side of the certificate. Additional text on the verso indicates that the certificate was transferred to "Stephen B. Grummand" on February 8, 1875.

The brochure's cover is red with in insert illustration of a trolley car within a scene of a car traveling along tracks beside a lake and the woods.
