Gannon, general chairman of the Capital Area United Way, Inc. Vogt, who represented the Lansing GM plant city committee at the presentation, emphasized the pledge is made to the United Way campaign on behalf of the three local GM units- Oldsmobile, Fisher Body and GM Parts Division. A General Motors pledge of $130,000 toward the Capital Area United Way goal of $2,398,500 was announced at last night's campaign kickoff dinner at the Lansing Civic Center. Robert J. Cook, Oldsmobile's general manager and chairman of the Lansing GM plant city committee, said the pledge is on behalf of the three local GM units- Oldsmbolie, Fisher Body, and GM parts Division. In addition to the corporate gift, each Lansing GM unit has committees seeking individual United Way pledges form hourly and salaried employees. Heading Oldsmobile's hourly employee campaign are Robert Evans, Charles Doherty and Ethel Neitzke while Ray LiBrizzi and Jack Patton are directing the Fisher Body campaign and David Schmidt is chairman of the GMPD drive. 'We are particularly proud of our employees who take time to campaign in our offices and plants on behalf of the United Way,' said Cook. 'General Motors and its Lansing employees support the United Way because its services are always available to everyone. We believe strongly in the United Way,' Cook emphasized."
