- Abstract of Title prepared by the Burton Abstract and Title Company concerning "Out Lot 3 of the Dennis J. and Theodore J. Campau Plat" located in Sections 29 and 32 of Township 1 South, Range 12 East, Wayne County, Michigan. The subject property contains approximately 266 acres in Hamtramck Township which is now part of the City of Hamtramck. The document package consists of approximately 100 pages of typewritten text and printed forms which trace the chain of land ownership from Joseph Campau, who purchased the land from the Land Office in Detroit in 1822. The abstract traces the property ownership transfers through the 1860's to various persons including he heirs of Joseph Campau. The pages are bound at the top with a pale red woven cord.

The document is written in French and states the payments Joseph Campau is responsible for making, and was signed by Benoit Chapoton. "Copie" is handwritten at the top of the second copy.

- Letter, with envelope, from William Duncan, chief engineer to Joseph Campau, dated April 9, 1851, inviting him to attend the fire department's annual inspection in front of Firemen's hall. Campau's address is handwritten on the envelope in French. Letter reads: "Sir, In behalf of our Fire Department I would respectfully tender you an invitation to be present at their annual inspection which takes place this afternoon at half past two o clock in front of the Firemen's Hall the Common Council and those of our citizens who intend to be present will meet in the Bidille[?] House trusting we shall have the honor of your presence. I remain Respectfully Yours William Duncan Chief Engineer

- Half-folded letter and form distributed by a committee appointed by the Board of Trustees of the Fire Department, and dated January 14, 1852, soliciting the public for works of art to be displayed in Firemen's Hall, opening February 2, 1852. The committee requests "paintings in oil or water," "drawings," "choice engravings and lithographs," "statuary and sculpture," "small specimens of mechanic arts," and "embroidery and needle work." The inner page contains a form where interested parties list available works of art, the artist who created them, and where the artist lived when creating them. The members of the committee are listed as James A. Van Dyke, George Foote, Robert E. Roberts, P.C. Higgins, Joseph J. Rhodes, B. Briody, Edmond A. Brush, Robert W. Kind, Lucretius H. Cobb, Stanley G. Wright, and W.A. Bacon. This copy was purportedly sent to Joseph Campau.

- Invoice handwritten in French by Joseph Campau regarding payment owed to him by Benoit Chapoton for expenses paid to St. Anne's Church. The message translates as: I certify that I have charge to the special account of Benoit Chapoton as of October 9, 1818, the sum of eight pounds (current New York Exchange), having to pay this sum myself to Charles Larned for the protection of the land of the church of Ste. Anne. Furthermore I have charged to him at the same time the sum of one pound, eight shillings (current New York) which I have paid to Mr. James Abbott myself for the transfer of several papers which have been sent to M. the Bishop, amounting in all to the sum of the nine pounds, eight shillings (current New York), which I have to pay as a result of the information which I have received from Messrs. Pierre Chene and Francois St. Aubin as how [?] money in the hands of M. Morice [sic] Moran belonging to the corporation of Ste. Anne - in order to replace this sum which I have to pay, on March 24 and May 11, 1817. But I have not yet received my money. Thus that which remains is still charged against Mr. Benoit Chapoton as here below [sic] mentioned. Detroit, June 19, 1823. Jos. Campau.
