- Photo. Full length, sepia-toned, oval portrait of James Battle, chief of the Detroit Fire Department in 1870 (as identified on verso). Battle is posing in a "chief" sash, and next to a "chief engineer" helmet, and horn. Battle was noted for being first paid chief of the department after its formation in 1865. Photo is printed on cardstock.

- Sepia-toned cabinet card head and shoulders portrait of a Detroit fireman. Badge on the center of his cap reads, "DFD 206." Also affixed on the right side of his jacket is another badge which also reads, "206." Written on verso, "John Dally." The photo studio name is mostly torn off and is not readable, but likely read "F. Friend, 244 & 246 Woodward Ave., Detroit," matching others in this collection.

- Photographic Print (1 copy). Mounted, sepia-toned image of fireman, Clinton Pasco. The full-length portrait of Pasco shows him in his Detroit Firefighter uniform and hat. He is leaning on an ax handle held in his right hand with the blade of the ax resting on the floor and his left hand is placed on his hip with arm bowed out. His shirt has been hand-colored in purple/maroon and the number, "7," has been handwritten on his badge. (His shirt is not colored in the copy photo.) A small three-legged table is to the right of Pasco, with a figurine placed on the table top. Handwriting on verso notes, "Clinton Pasco."

- Cabinet card bearing a sepia-toned head-and-shoulder portrait photograph of a ranking Detroit Fire Department firefighter, in profile facing the right. He has a beard and wears a kepi hat with three crossed bugles on its badge, with a double-breasted coat. The photo was previously housed in on the left side of a three-part cardstock frame with alongside a photo of James Battle, and another ranking firefighter. "October 1881," is handwritten on the verso.
