In view are the Hotel Statler, David Whitney Building, St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Alexander Macomb Monument, a fountain, and signs reading "Edison" and "Reliable". Printed on verso: Washington Boulevard extends from Michigan Avenue to Grand Circus Park. It was one of the principal residence streets, but on account of the rapid growth of Detroit, it is now being turned into a business thoroughfare. One of the unique features of Detroit in winter is the famous ice fountain on Washington Boulevard. Several jets of water are allowed to play all winter, and the result is a massive berg of ice which sometimes reaches a height of nearly thirty feet and contains many tons of crystal.
